Pending List

I. PRINCIPLE:

The Pending List screen provides a mechanism for the user to monitor tests ordered and pending results entry or release in the LIS.

II. PROCEDURE:

  1. Open Pending List:
    Press and hold the Alt+r+p keys, to activate the "Reports" drop down menu, then the Pending List screen or using the mouse, position the pointer arrow directly over "Reports" on the menu bar and click once on the left mouse button to activate the drop down menu. Move the pointer arrow directly over "Pending List" on the drop down menu and click once on the left mouse button to open the Pending List screen.

  2. Setting the search criteria for the desired Pending List:
    1. Select the Site/Department:
      1. Position the pointer arrow directly over the down arrow button to the right of the site field click the left mouse button once to open the drop down window.
      2. Position the pointer arrow directly over the desired site and click on the left mouse button once and the selected site will fill the field.
    2. Select the desired Work Area: (optional)
      Note: If all work areas are desired, leave this field blank.
      1. Position the pointer arrow directly over the down arrow button to the right of the work area field click the left mouse button once to open the drop down scroll window.
      2. If the desired work area is not displayed in the window, use the mouse and pointer arrow to scroll until the work area is displayed.
      3. Position the pointer arrow directly over the desired work area and click on the left mouse button once and the selected work area will fill the field.
    3. Select the desired Status: (optional)
      Note: If one status is selected all other status’ will be eliminated from the selection criteria. In most cases this field should be left blank.
      1. Position the pointer arrow directly over the down arrow button to the right of the status field click the left mouse button once to open the drop down scroll window.
      2. If the desired work status is not displayed in the window, use the mouse and pointer arrow to scroll until the work area is displayed.
      3. Move the pointer arrow directly over the desired status and click on the left mouse button once and the selected status will fill the field.
    4. Enter the desired Order Location: (optional)
      This filter will allow the operator to select a pending list for a specific ordering account (e.g. M, F, DV, OP, MA, HAR, etc.) eliminating all other possible accounts.
      Note: If pending orders from all ordering accounts is desired, leave this field blank.
    5. Select the “Future” radio button to obtain pending future orders (order for future dates/times). Leave the radio button unselected (the default) if current pending order are desired.
  3. Position the pointer arrow directly over the [Retrieve] button and click the left mouse button once. A listing of the test information meeting the search criteria will appear.
    1. Each column heading on the Pending List displayed is underlined, this indicates that this heading is an active button that when clicked will sort the list by that column. For example, if the [Name] heading is clicked the displayed list will sort alphabetically, in descending order, by patient last name; if the [Desired Collection] heading is clicked the list will sort by the date and time, later to most recent orders, and so on.
    2. Once the list is sorted as desired, click on the [Print] button and the displayed report will print.
  4. Clear the search criteria fields by positioning the pointer arrow over the [Clear Selections] and click the button once.
  5. Additional Pending Lists can be printed by repeating steps 2 to 3 and changing the criteria selected in step 2. A. through D.
  6. Exit the "Pending List" screen:
    Press Ctrl+F4 function keys or using the mouse, position the pointer arrow directly over "File" on the menu bar and click the left mouse button once to open the drop down menu. Then position the pointer arrow directly over "Close" and click the left mouse button once. The screen will close.
